MMIW March Sign Making

Join RISE on Tuesday, February 11th from 5:00-6:30 pm at the Tribal Center Snack Bar for MMIW March Sign Making!

This event is for those of you who are going to the MMIW March on Friday, February 14th in Minneapolis, MN and would like make a sign. Supplies will be available, and light refreshments will be provided.

Date/Time: Friday, Feb. 14th, 11:00 am – 2:00 pm

Location: Minneapolis Indian Center, 1530 East Franklin Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55404. The March starts and ends at the Minneapolis Indian Center.


Meskwaki Tribal Museum Guest Presentation: Tatiana Ergova

The Meskwaki Tribal Museum will have a special guest, Tatiana Ergova tonight. This event will be held at the Meskwaki Cultural Center and Museum and it will begin at 6:00 pm.

Tatiana is a scholar visiting from the Arctic in Russia and is from the Saami tribe. She would like to share her culture with the community. Tatiana is a beadworker and would like to demonstrate her technique as well as learn about our methods of beaded.

We hope you can stop in and not only learn about another culture, but to share some of your own knowledge.

Meskwaki and Native American Artisans Wanted

Are you an artisan who is interested in sharing your expertise in Meskwaki or Native American craftsmanship with youth ages 6 to 13? Do you hope to inspire native youth to learn the skill of a traditional craft? If you answered yes, then Meskwaki Youth Program is looking for you!

Meskwaki Youth Program is looking for Meskwaki and Native American artisans!

MYP’s goal is to provide a unique learning experience for native youth so they may gain the skills and confidence needed to create traditional arts, crafts and attire.

More Details:

  • Starts Tuesday, June 2nd, 1:00 – 4:00 pm
  • Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday (1 day is aquatic day)
  • Will be given honorariums for time worked
  • Supplies and materials will be purchased/supplied by MYP
  • MYP Assistants will be on-hand for support
  • Must fill out application and W-9
  • Must successfully pass background check

Lacrosse Signup Deadline

Sign up now for the Lacrosse 2020 Spring Season!


Signup Deadline is Friday, February 14, 2020.

Boys Lacrosse is for ages 9 to 13. There is a$30 registration fee. Payment due by March 6, 2020. *Payment plans available.

Girls Lacrosse is for grades 4th – 6th. There is a $30 registration fee. Payment due by March 6, 2020. *Payment plans available.

Girls Softball Signups

It is time to sign up  for the 2020 Spring Softball Season with the Marshalltown Girls Softball Association for girls in grades K-12th!

There will be a Walk In Registration event on  Wednesday, February 5 from 3:30-5:00 pm at the Tribal Center Snack Bar. The deadline to sign up through MYP is Feb. 17th by 4:30 pm.  There is a $30.00 registration fee. (*Payment plans available). Final payment is due by March 13th at 4:30 pm.


Recall Election


A Recall Election will be held on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 in the gymnasium at the Sac and Fox Tribal Center on the Meskwaki Settlement from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm.

All completed absentee ballots must be received by the Election Committee no later than February 11, 2020 at 8:00 pm.

Reminder: Nomination Meeting Tonight


A Nomination Meeting will be held on February 4, 2020 in the gymnasium at the Sac & Fox Tribal Center on the Meskwaki Settlement at 7:00 pm.

If the attendance is less than 30% of eligible voters of the Tribe at the first Nomination Meeting, a second Nomination Meeting will be held on February 5, 2020 at 7:00 pm.

Red Earth Talking Circle

Beginning March 5th, Meskwaki Behavioral Health will be hosting the Red Earth Talking Circle. This will be held weekly, on Thursday evenings at the Meskwaki Health Clinic (East Entrance) formerly known as the MADAC Offices.

Red Earth Talking Circle will start with a light supper served at 5:30 pm followed by the meeting beginning at 6:00 pm.
