Communications re: Youth Development

Press Release 9-6-18

This week the Youth Development Program conducted an assessment for potential renovations for the Youth Development building located at 1641 305th St.  The assessment determined that there was bat feces present in the attic, significant damage to the roof, and with the rainfall, flooding in the basement.  We want to ensure that all programming takes place in environments that are both safe and healthy, so until further notice, the Youth Development building is closed. Beginning immediately, Youth Development programming will be located at the Meskwaki Settlement School, and Youth Development offices will be temporarily relocated to the Economic Development program office.  Contact information will remain the same for staff, and staff will also provide updates as necessary to youth program participants and families.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Executive Management.

Photos: SYEP Orientation

On June 13 the Summer Youth Enrichment Program held its orientation for summer youth workers.

The program offers Meskwaki students the opportunity to work in a paid internship with various Tribal Operations departments. During the orientation students filled out HR paperwork, heard from Meskwaki Economic Development Community Development Specialist Steve Scott, completed a budgeting activity with folks from ISU Extension, and had lunch with representatives from the departments they would be working with over the summer.
