The Sac & Fox Tribe of the Mississippi in Iowa strives for a highly qualified and productive workforce as an employer. In the ever-changing world around us and with the advancement of technology, new strategies need be implemented to ensure the success of the organization. The Tribe ensures that its staff members are highly skilled and effective communicators.
The Tribe also recognizes that First Nations people have historically lacked meaningful economic and employment opportunities. The advancement, employment, and empowerment of Indian people is a priority of the Tribe. By exercising sovereign authority, the Tribe’s employment, training, and advancement opportunities are prioritized for Tribal members before other Indian candidates, and other Indian candidates are considered before non-Indian candidates.
In order to create and maintain exceptional staffing and empower First Nations people, the program has been authorized by the 2015 Strategic Plan and the Tribal Council. Programming seeks to develop and implement Tribal Succession, where internal staff members are recommended for advancement. Trainings, development strategies, and incentives for longevity are also utilized and serve to measure the qualitative accomplishments of the Tribe’s workforce.
This program is under the direction of the Human Resources Department which is located in the white portable building behind the Tribal Center.
