We will learn how to process for drying and freezing, how to save seeds, and how to prepare some simple recipes. This workshop will be hands on and participants will leave with squash to use at home!

Cities of Tama and Toledo to issue joint proclamation in honor of Indigenous Peoples Day.
Toledo, IA, October 8 – The cities of Tama, IA and Toledo, IA will come together to jointly proclaim Monday, October 14, 2019 and the second Monday of each October hereafter to be recognized as Indigenous Peoples Day in the cities of Tama and Toledo. Mayor Mike Carnahan (Tama) and Mayor John Llyod (Toledo) will sign the proclamation on Monday, October 14, 2019, at 6:00 p.m. at the Reinig Toledo Civic Center, 1007 S Prospect Dr, Toledo, IA during the regular meeting of the Toledo City Council.
This day recognizes the land now known as the cities of Tama and Toledo as home to Indigenous People since time immemorial, and without whom, the building of our two cities would not have been possible. This day will also serve to recognize and honor the relationship between the cities of Tama and Toledo and the Meskwaki Nation, federally recognized as the Sac & Fox Tribe of the Mississippi in Iowa.
Tama and Toledo join a growing number of government entities across the country that have recognized the second Monday of October as Indigenous Peoples Day, in order to promote appreciation, reconciliation, understanding, friendship, and continued partnerships among all of its people and the Indigenous Peoples of this land.
We invite all members of the communities of Tama and Toledo along with members of the Meskwaki Nation and the Indigenous community in Iowa to join us on Monday, October 14 at 6:00 p.m. for a signing ceremony of this join Indigenous Peoples day proclamation.

THREE (3) TRIBAL COUNCIL POSITIONS ARE TO BE FILLED BY THIS GENERAL ELECTION PROCESS and ONE (1) TRIBAL COUNCIL POSITION WILL BE FILLED BY THIS SPECIAL ELECTION. (Three (3) positions ending in 2023 and one (1) position ended in 2021.)
The Family Fun Night Committee will be hosting a Fall Festival on Wednesday, October 16th! This Festival will be held at the Meskwaki Health Clinic (southeast side) from 4:30 pm until 7:00 pm.

Dinner will be served along with hot apple cider and hot chocolate. There will be a pumpkin patch and pumpkin decorating, games and prizes and so much more!

This Fun Walk & Run will be held at the Meskwaki Clinic. Registration at 5:00 pm and the Walk/Run starts at 5:30 pm. Route will be to the casino stop sign and back to the clinic.
There will be t-shirts while supplies last and food and water will also be served!

Their primary focus is to engage with students about the possibility of becoming a student in the School of Social Work. They have a full-ride scholarship and many other funding opportunities for Native American students.
