Throughout both days, students and their Culture Class instructors ventured out to the wooded area just west of the school building to observe the process in which maple trees are tapped to collection sap for maple sugar. Prior to the demonstrations staff from Meskwaki Natural Resources walked the timber and marked the trees that would best suited for tapping. Once enough sap has been collected, students will come back out to the sugar camp area to observe the boiling and straining process.
